Advantages: Cheap!!!!!!!
Disadvantages: Not great quality or fit
Primark seems to have really taken off in the last few years, especially since the credit crunch. The clothes and accessories are now featured in many magazines and has started to produce some 'must have' items for each season. They sell womens, mens and childrens clothes, shoes and accessories and home items such as bedding, curtains, towels, vases, etc.
I kind of like Primark....
It's great for some things and terrible for others.
Womens clothes - In my opinion - terrible!
I am 5 ft 7 - not exactly a giant, yet every item I try is too short. Either tops that end above the wrists or trousers that waft around the ankles. I have bought a couple of short sleeved tops but find that you need to take two items in each size to try on as every fit is different.
Womens accessories - great. You can get some really pretty pieces and as we have quite a large store near us it has by far the largest range of accessoreis in town.
Womens bags - good. I like the bags as they do quite big ones and are reasonably priced - so you can buy twice as many! The only poblem I find is that the lining splits easily so your keys/phone get lost in this hole. I once spent 15 mins panicking that I had left my phone on a table somewhere only to find it had disappeared into the gaping hole in my bag's lining.
Womens shoes - not so great. I find the shoes quite uncomfortable and very oddly sized. This may just be me but I think that you need a better quality from your shoes, especially if you are walking around in them all day.
mens clothes - No idea, sorry!
childrens clothes - brilliant. Childrens clothes just fit, don't they? kids are all the same shape so as long as you get the right length you can't go wrong. Price wise, they are similar to a lot of other high street shops, very cheap for T-shirts though. The quality is quite good for the childrens clothes as well. I buy most of my son's items from here as he seems to be on a permanent growth spurt so it is pointless spending much on them.
Childrens accessories - great. I buy my son's socks, hats, sunglasses, etc from here. Similar quality to other shops and for that price you don't mind them getting lost or left somewhere.
Homeware - ok. I quite like some items. They aren't top quality or particularly interesting or pretty designs but for basics such as towels they are worth the price.
All in all, I would recommend Primark. Just not for womens clothes or shoes (which is what they primarily stock). Irony, anyone?
Summary: A good shop - some things great, some things not.
