Advantages: High stock turnover, cheap, fashionable, good for stuff you won't use

Disadvantages: not always great quality

Primark is throwaway fashion- and i love it!

I went in there the other day to buy some jogging bottoms and some kind of hessian bag thing to pack down flat in my luggage. Bth items are not often seen in my wardrobe as I'm a bit of a classic dresser, but every now and then you need these things. No way was I going to Nike to pay £50 for some rubbish joggers i'll wear a few times, nor am i going to pay £20 for a bag i wont use. But at primark, you get the chance to buy things you'll either chuck, or ruin, or will seldom use. Stuff like beach bags are great too, my one from last year is filthy and squashed up from my case, but hell, it only cost £4!

Having said this- one in a while you DO get some really good quality stuff. ballet pumps for example, and especially many of their shoes are very hardwearing. i have a wonderful red clutch bag from there and their linen trousers are excellent. I have a pair from oasis and from per una, and i often wonder which is the primark ones when theyre in the laundry. They do some excellent linen stuff, for the money- i paid only £7 for mine.

I am by no means a fashionista, but I am a bit of a Chanel and Gucci watcher, and primark DO have some very good designer pieces- for instance they are doing a red version of the classic flap/2.55 right now. (In non bag speak, thats the shoulder bags, normally quilted with the chain handle that Chanel make)

Overall, primark fills a great gap in the market for disposable fashion- if you want to try out burnt orange on you, just buy a £4 top, you can always bin it. If you need some ludicrous shoes you'll probably never wear again. Also I know that there has been some controversy over their ethics, but an ethic i do like about this store is that it gives those on benefits or low incomes a chance to buy new clothes very cheaply, and that's a big positive.

Summary: Well worth the money
