Advantages: Cheap, variety of clothes, new lines added regularly
Disadvantages: Poor quality, unfriendly service
Primark offers cheap clothing ranges for men, women and children, and also some homeware items. The styles change quite regularly but some lines seem to knock around forever. Its stock ranges from basics to more fashionable items and magazine must-haves that seem to fly off the shelves. A lot of it is awful, but there are a few nice things. Unfortunately, no matter how nice it looks, the quality is usually quite poor.
I'm very selective when I do buy from here, as I've found some items are more durable than others. Their t-shirts are quite good quality but I've found they easily get mishapen, cardigans just fall apart and their bras are useless. Generally I'll buy something if I like it, but I'm under no illusion that it's good quality and will last beyond a few washes. To be honest, I rarely buy very much at all from them nowerdays. If I'm going for basics, I wouldn't choose Primark simply because you can get better quality elsewhere, possibly at a higher price, but it's worth it.
There are some things I do like at Primark. Their jeans I've found to be of quite good quality, particularly their skinny jeans which fit better than many other more expensive ones I've owned. Their shoes are also not bad, and I've found their accessories to be quite durable. Their coats and jackets also look of reasonable quality.
My local branch of Primark (Mansfield) isn't the best. The staff aren't very friendly, but I think this is part and parcel of the Primark experience. My only objective is to get out of the usually very long queue and get out of the shop, so it doesn't really bother me. The Mansfield store's not as big as others I've visited and the selections are quite limited. Often featured items won't reach this branch, or will arrive much later. If you're a fan of Primark and live locally, you'd be better off making the trip to Nottingham's flagship store, or one of its other flagship/larger stores such as London.
Summary: You get what you pay for

- 18/05/09 Let's hope you do get what you pay for, I know a few people in primary who don't. They could do with having a bobby or two permanently at the door at our store! |
