Advantages: Very cheap, lots of choice, fashionable clothes
Disadvantages: Poor quality and sometimes sizing is a bit off
Primark is like every student's dream - clothes everywhere for the cheapest prices you can imagine. You will have troubles finding a top in primark that costs more than a fiver! Their clothes tend to be cheap copies from other high street shops and they often have a "statement garment" which everyone goes crazy for (and then sell on ebay for double the price!).
Each primark shop seems to be quite different, and some are a lot tidier than others! Some seem to just have clothes strewn everywhere and others are a little more organised. In the messy ones, it can feel like you are in a big fight as everyone rakes through the clothes trying to find their size so I try to avoid these stores. To be honest, now that I am no longer a poor student, I rarely go into primark because unfortunately I find that the clothes don't seem to last very long.
Some people are happy to buy large amounts of clothes, very cheap, and accept that they will have to replace them after a few wears. I on the other hand, prefer to spend a bit more and get just a few items that I know will fit really well and last a long time. I suppose primark is ok if you want something which you know won't be in fashion for very long anyway, or maybe holiday clothes. To be fair, not everything from primark is bad quality, I know plenty of people who have clothes from there which have lasted years but I think it is the luck of the draw.
Primark sell women's clothes, men's clothes, kid's clothes and things for the home. I have bought a duvet cover set from primark before which lasted very well and was actually pretty good quality although to be fair, it wasn't much cheaper than your average duvet set. Friends have bought some lovely throws and cushions too which seem to last quite well so I would certainly recommend primark for these kinds of things.
Overall, I would recommend primark for clothes which you don't expect to be wearing for years on end. I think you could get some "in fashion tops" to wear with a more expensive pair of jeans that fit really well and that would allow you to change up your look.
Summary: Good for buying clothes you don't intend to keep for years... because they won't keep for years!
