Advantages: Affordable; Latest trends available; Great for kid's wear

Disadvantages: Don't always fit perfectly, some clothes may not last long

I remember the days when Primark first came about. I think quite a few people looked down their noses at Primark back then and considered it 'cheap'. These days however, Primark has earned itself quite a good name up there with the rest of the high street fashion chains, and in my opinion it is one of the better ones, simply due to it's low prices.

Primark is primarily a clothes store and sells clothing items for children, men and women and also has a separate and rather large lingerie section. In recent times Primark has also expanded its homeware section which sells bedding, cushions, throws, towels etc. In addition I understand that Primark now even sells Christmas wrapping paper, cards and all sorts of seasonal items.

One of the biggest plus points about Primark is their low-cost items. You can get rather pretty underwear from Primark for as little as £1, and sometimes even 50p or 25p during special offers! Likewise, men can get their hands on a t-shirt from as little as £2.50, or a shirt for just £4. I think Primark wins hands-down when it comes to children's clothing however, as kids do tend to grow out of clothes awfully quickly. Therefore spending £2-3 on an item of children's wear is much less painful than spending double that, knowing that it might not fit in 6 months or even less.

I think one of the things that has made Primark so successful is not only their low costs, but also the fact that they cater for all ages. For example, you could walk into your local Primark store and be able to pick items of clothing which reflect the latest trends or if you needed to pick something a bit more conservative you'd probably be able to find that too.

As the clothes at Primark do not cost a huge amount, I think it is important to sometimes bear in mind that you do get what you pay for. Some items of clothing may only last a year or two for example - but if it only costs a few pounds I do not actually think that this is such a bad thing. In addition I find that sometimes the fit of a particular item of clothing is not quite right. It's always a good idea to try on clothing before you buy, and every Primark store I have been to has changing rooms available - although I should also add that most Primark stores I have been to always seem to have very long waiting queues for the changing rooms.

The exchange policy at Primark is reasonable. They do not refund or exchange underwear or intimate swimwear items for hygiene reasons but everything else has a 28 day return policy. I have had to take a few things back in the past because they didn't fit properly and didn't have any problems doing so.

There are now a large number of Primark stores dotted around the UK. Primark itself is actually an Irish company and is called Penny's over there (if any one is interested!) If you need to locate your nearest Primark store you can go on to their website and use the store locator function which should help you to find the one closest to you.

Yes they are cheap, so you don't mind so much when it wears out after a year, but the reason they are so cheap is in part due to their use of child labour. If you are on a really tight budget then needs must, but if you can afford an extra pound or so then it's better to use more respectable companies.

What you say about children's clothes can also apply to adults trying to lose / gain weight... I love & miss Primark.

look into the reasons why the costs are so low, before you buy from this sick sick company.
