Advantages: Cheap individual prices, fashionable items
Disadvantages: None in particular
Primark is a hughstreet purely offline store which sells a huge range of items, from clothes to bedding, and is best known for it's ultra cheap prices. Their range includes clothes for men, women, children and babies. They have loads of accessories in terms of shoes, belts, jewellry and bags. The sell many household items in terms of decoration or just towels and bedding. And they sell them all at affordable prices, and claim to make them ethically too (whether or not they do is still debatable).
You can certainly find a lot of really nice fashion pieces in store in terms of clothes which really transforms this store from just selling cheap stuff to selling things people want at affordable prices. Perhaps not everything is a fashion piece or that desirable to wear, but there's certainly enough of a range of great items to make shopping within the store well worth while.
My favourite item in terms of decent quality, price and fashion is bras. Most other store for a decent fashion bra you're looking at £10 plus, at Primark you can get a cute set for around £4. A huge difference in price but one is just as good as the other in my opinion.
On a quality note I've never had any problems with clothing I've bought from Primark with ripping etc, but I have had that problem with bedding. I don't think the double quilt cover was that cheap either, at around £15, and after just two uses it easily ripped and tore, making it a useless item now. But I would like to stress I've only experience this with that one item, and I own a lot of other things from Primark without any problems.
My main problem with Primark, which I'm sure is a problem for many other people too, is that because the prices are so cheap for individual items, you pick up and buy loads, spending certainly much more than you ever intended to or thought you could in a store like Primark.
Summary: Shop, but be cautious

- 15/07/09 Well balanced review.
I don't buy as much here as I used to, but I still manage to find at least one bargain per visit. |
