Advantages: Cheep and cheerful
Disadvantages: Not the best quality
For those of you that don't know, Primark or Primarni as my group of friends know it as, is a large chain of clothes shops. There is a shop in just about every major city and they employ thousands of people.
The main thing that most people comment on first when talking about Primark is the price. Most things are ridiculously cheap ie vest tops from £1.50, jumpers from £7 etc. Before I started shopping here, I was used to spending maybe £25 on a top and £35 on a pair of jeans. For those prices you can get a full outfit from Primark!
They always seem to be pretty quick off the mark when it comes to fashion. They have things similar to high fashion shops but at a fraction of the price. This applies to both men and women's clothing. It's not all just fashionable items, they also carry everyday pieces. Aside from clothes they also stock a wide range of underwear, shoes and accessories. The homeware department carries items such as cushions, bed linen and towels. I got some cushions last week - 2 for £6 which I thought was a complete bargain!
A few years ago, a lot of people never admitted to shopping in Primark. It was seen as a poor person's shop and something to be ashamed of. This all changed when a certain WAG in training, who shall remain nameless, admitted she did a lot of shopping there. This was the best advert Primark could ever have had. Overnight it became very popular and getting a bargain became something to brag about rather than something to hide.
Of course there is a downside to having such good prices. While I have never had cause to complain about anything from the home department, the quality of some of the clothing isn't fabulous. Saying the least amount of time that I've had something is 6 months and I wore it pretty regularly so I don't think that's too bad, I've had clothes from more expensive high street shops that didn't last as long as that.
In summary, Primark is ideal if you want something cheap and cheerful, or a designer look a like that is only fashionable for a short time. Don't expect the clothes to be fantastic quality and you won't be disappointed!
Summary: Great prices, good clothes
