Advantages: Cheap, Fashionable, Nice Clothes
Disadvantages: None
Years ago when i was a teenager i wouldnt have went near a Primark store for fear of my friends from school seeing me. Back then, the clothes were plain and badly cut and nothing was very fashionable. In recent years, Primark have moved with the times and their clothes are affordable, really fashionable and widely available.
In 1969, the first Penneys store opened in Dublin. Within a year, four more stores were added - all in the Greater Dublin area. In 1971, the first large store outside Dublin was opened in Cork and by the end of that year there were 11 more stores in Ireland and one in Northern Ireland. In 1973, Primark started to bring stores to the UK and now has more than 190 stores including 13 in Spain.
The reason i love Primark is mainly because of the price. There arent many other places where you can get a full outfit for less than £20. I cant afford to buy expensive clothes as i dont earn enough so Primark is a complete lifesaver for me! The best time to go is probably a Monday or Tuesday morning as this is when it is the least busy. I usually try to avoid it at the weekends as it can be crazy with loads of people swarming over it! My local Primark at times has dresses reduced to £1 as well as wedges and accessories reduced all the time for £1! Its brilliant.
Primark has four main areas of sales, menswear, womenswear, childrenswear and homeware. There seems to be a bigger market for the womenswear section of the store than anywhere else. The childrenswear section is usually very busy which clothes selling for as little as 25p. As kids grow so quickly, i cant blame parents for shopping here for their little ones.
Its true that Primark have been in the press for having a young workforce being paid buttons. They seem to be tackling this by putting efforts more into ethical trading.
Overall, i love Primark and it has been a complete godsend to me on many of occassions!
Summary: Go there!
