Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Everything else
Primark is a place I can longer bear to go into!!
My first experince of Primark was in Birmingham and Manchester and how I longed that they opened one up in Staffordshire, me and my friend could spend an hour or 2 rifling through what wares they had on offer and usually always came out with something.
Primark took over an old Littlewoods shop and renovated the whole store leaving it very light bright and white.
After a couple of visits I found myself avoiding the place or when I decided to go came out again after a few minutes.
Purchases=
Lots of costume jewellery, Primark is a very good at this charging mostly a pound for most jewellery items.
Some bits of underwear which were ok
Ugg style boots just for wearing to work and back in the winter which were only £6 and are absolutely fantastic but I'm sure will get trashed easily)
A coat which now is very shabby and I think was poor quality, £15
Loads of vest tops which are about £1.50 in all sorts of colours, not too bad at all for holidays etc and wash well
Couple of little bags which have also found to be good and usually about £3 so cannot grumble for the price.
A rain mac which I absolutely love. £10 from Liverpool Primark.
The choice of stuff is quite good, obviously mostly ladieswear.
Mens section is very poor the stuff seems awful.
Few nice bits in homeware.
Childrenswear I have never shopped in.
Advantages=
Need something cheap? You got it.
Disadvantages=
The state of this shop is disgusting. Clothes strewn all over the floor and display stands. Think of a busy jumble sale and you got it. It is always like this every time I go in and is disgusting I get too annoyed and cannot shop from it or even be bothered looking most of the time. Shoes left all over the floor in the shoes section.
Ladies clothes sizes are mostly 8-10, 12-14, 16-18. Not much use I find to have sizing like that being a 10 to 12. Sizing can be weird. Often difficult to find stuff that fits or it fits really funny.
Weekends can be vile, and absolutely packed and heaving with people, so would advise to avoid if you get a bit panicky in these situations as a lot of people do.
Sometimes they have rails full of size 14's, or size 8's, or 18's and not what you want.
Most things can be found sitting on the wrong hanger so when you have a euraka moment you find it's actually 10 sizes too small or big or whatever.
When I returned an item that had split (a size 12 item) I found them to be quite rude and the manager even asked me if I was sure it was the right size for me, which of course it was and then some. no real need for stupid comments. And also they said my receipt was a few days out of date to which I admit my tone of voice got a bit annoyed and I pointed out that the item is FAULTY and therefore not fit for purpose. I could only have an exhange and not my money back although I had an original receipt and had only worn the item twice. Shoddy service.
Throwaway fashion springs to mind, maybe if you only wear something for 'one season' or whatever it is then it seems worthwhile. Don't get me wrong there are fantastic finds to be found in here but can you really be bothered to sift through everything and push past everyone to find it?
Summary: 3 out of 10
