Advantages: Cheap Prices
Disadvantages: Low quality, queueing and unorganised
Primark has been around for many many years and the first version of Primark, known as Penney's (which are still available in Ireland) were opended in Southern Ireland in 1969. 2 years later, 1971, there were 11 more stores and even one in Northern Ireland. Another 2 years later, 1973, the number of stores was up to 18 and more and more Primarks were getting opened in Great Britain.
Primark sells so many items, its hard to walk in and not find something! They sell ranges of menswear, womenswear, childrenswear and even home furnishings. I have been to both Penneys and Primark and have to say their range of clothing items is absolutely mind blowing!
Primark had not always been so popular up until about 5-6 years ago. It had always been there but not everyone shopped there. People had heard of the jaw droppingly low prices but would only shop there if they had to. Nowadays people shop here on a regular basis and its popularity whether for the good or bad is growing and growing fast!
When you ask someone where they got their new jacket/ top/ shoes/ boots/ bracelet, you will notice that you hear Primark alot more now than you would have 5-6 years ago!
I personally I have a love hate relationship with Primark. I do love their prices. I do love alot of their clothes. I absolutely love their underwear! I hate how busy the stores are. I hate some of the quality of the clothes. I hate the way the stores are so unorganised. I hate the long queues.
Of course, I shouldnt be moaning about these minor things when it comes to shopping in Primark because everyone knows what its about. Cheap clothes for the masses at OK quality. Of course there are going to be long queues, busy stores and of course these people are going to mess these stores up when looking for their sizes!
If Primark had an online store... well that would be a whole different story and I am pretty sure I would be forced to shop with them online for at least twice a week if not once a week! They do have some absolutely amazing bargains, but Im quite unmotivated when it comes to having to physically find the bargain. Searching for what I want. Searching for the right colour. And of course then theres the size. I would much rather be doing this online!
I would imagine that if Primark were to have an online store, there sales would increase immensely!
Summary: Budget clothing store

- 02/11/09 I agree - I love Primark, but the one I like best (Manchester) is just too hectic, it's not worth it. My local one is not too bad, but it is very small. |
