Advantages: cheap, Fashionable
Disadvantages: some poor quality, bad size ranges, Often looks like a jumble sale
Primark is a great shop if you know what to look out for. After shopping there for many years I now know what really is a bargain and which items to steer clear of.
One thing i would always recommend is to try the clothes on. Im a size 16 but amazingly found a size 12 a bit loose on me. The next time i went i stormed out of the shop embarassed because a size 18 wouldn't even go past my hips, and this was in the space of 2 days. I dont know why but the clothes are quite annoying to get used to there and the sizes are a bit strange.
I'm also annoyed by the underwear. In a 10-12, 14-16 and 18-20 size range there really isnt much for me as a size 18-20 slides down my ankles and a 14-16 cuts off the circulation. Why does such a well known clothes shop persist in this labelling on every item of their underwear? Beats me.
I also found that the staff are very unhelpful there, and well.. who can blame them. At 16 i was ready and willing to go get a job there and prove i was a hard worker but after being told i'd get paid £2.20 an hour i couldn't stop laughing. Now i know why everyone in there looks like they've been hit with a trout. After going into the changing rooms i found the lady there staring at me to see if i was stealing anything and to be honest, if i was going to risk going to jail it wouldn't be for something from there.
Now onto some good points! they do these little vests there which are £3 and they are great. I've got them in black white and purple and they really are good. The thing is thought, throghout the day they tend to get bigger and bigger! So aim for a size smaller than what you are. Again, this vests are in the 10-12 and so on categories. Primark also have some great summer wear this year with swimming costumes and bikinis at £5. I just recentely picked up a gold bikini which is £28 in Top shop - Bargain!
If you look closely then you will see some
great bargains. There are some jeans with holes in and union jack patches for £12.00 which i saw at New Look, the exact same ones - 24.99!! They do a large range in everything and the thing that i appreciate is in the shop at Telford they also do sizes for larger women up to a size 26. you can pick anything up at primark from sportwear and suits to jumpers and pyjamas. All the clothes and shoes you would want are here and they really are wearable. Ok so primark isnt a designer label but most clothes are a good quality and the prices are fabulous. I just recently bought myself some denim cropped trousers for £5.
Primark also do the odd Umbro and that kind of label here and there but nothing to special. There really are bargains to get but you need a beady eye - especially through the jumble sale that Primark is!! Bra and knicker sets for £4, pack of 2 thongs for £2. Anything is a bargain in its own right and if it suits you then grab it! I wrote bad things here so that when you get to Primark you wont have fazed ideas. yes the clothes are cheap but don't go rushing into buying everything. Think and test before you buy. Saying that, if you keep your receipt they usually are quite good on the refunds too. Have fun!!
