Advantages: Very Cheap - Good Selection of Clothes For Everyone. Nice and Bright.
Disadvantages: Long queue's for the tills and for the lift - can get very busy at times.
And hundreds other items too. I simply must tell you all about my visit to Primark, whether you like it or not, lol. I just can’t get over how cheap it is for everything from knickers and bra’s to towels and bedding! I was in there today and felt inspired to tell you all about the bargains to be had. On entering my nearest Primark which is in Newcastle upon Tyne’s town centre, I found that all the women’s wear to be situated on the right hand side of a massive store. I had a stroll around and found everything to be very very cheap and most of it is well made, for instance: ~~~~~WOMENS WEAR ~~~~~ Woolen Jumpers – from £4.00 (yes that’s right only 4 quid) Fleece Jackets – from £6.00 ( unbelievable ) Fashion Tops - from £3.00 ( now that’s a total mind boggling catch) Boot Cut Trousers and Jeans from £8.00. I could go on all night but I won’t I will simply tell you about the mens section very briefly as I didn’t really take much notice of that section as I wasn’t shopping for men’s wear! ~~~~~~ MENS WEAR ~~~~~ Boxer Short – from £2.50 for a pack of two. More if you want Bart or Homer Simpson’s picture on your butt but still very reasonably priced! Trousers from £8.00 Jumpers from £6.00 Fleece Jackets form £6.00 All of the above seem to be well made and of a good quality fabric so you know your getting a good deal! I wanted to look at the children’s department which was situated on the next floor which means a trip in the lift! This is at the back of the store and a bit of a nightmare to get to if the store is packed, then you have to queue for it as there’s always loads of buggies in the queue – I’m used to waiting around for lifts so it didn’t really bother me to much but if I was pushed for time th
en I’d probably avoid this store like the plague – bargains or no bargains. On the second floor you’ll find children’s clothes, all the girly things like bra’s and knickers and night shirts etc. Just around the corner from this you’ll find the bedding department – some great deals there. But back to the children’s wear for a moment! ~~~~~ Childrens Wear ~~~~~ I got a lovely little pink dress for my daughter who is due to arrive in March next year and yes you’ve guessed it, it only cost me £2.00 Pack of three vests - £2.50 Pack of three baby grows - £3.50 A ickle cardigan – £2.00 Various tops and trousers – from £2.00 Pack of Three socks various sizes available - £1.50 I also got my son a lovely outfit for £6.00, which consisted of a lovely checked shirt and trousers. Loads of Jumpers from £2.50 Fleece baby blankets - £3.50 I mean really – I was in my retail therapy glory in this store – I normally shop at Mothercare for my sons things and always thought it was quite reasonable HA!! I don’t think I’ll be shopping there half as often now! I will admit Mothercare clothes are slightly more stylish but when you consider the price difference and the fact that young children don’t give a hoot who’s names on there clothes then I think I will be sticking with Primark for as long as they keep up the quality of there clothes! ~~~~~~ BRA’S AND KNICKER’S ~~~~~~ Now there are some great bargains to be had here as long as you aren’t over a D cup. I didn’t see one bra over a D and I really looked! There where some great deals in bra and knickers set which started at around £5.00 and you have a choice of big knickers or a G-Sting (I mean string, lol) with some of them! Knickers started at a pound a pair and came in all differe
nt sizes and styles, g-strings, tanga, high leg, low leg and up to your chin if that’s what you prefer! All you have to do is have a good look around and I’m sure you’ll find something you like. I went for modest high leg pack of three for £2.50 – only time will tell if they last long and I will update at some point to let you know if my knickers fell to bits in the wash, lol. I also found some rather curious looking air bra’s for £5.00 which I haven’t seen before – really funny looking and I don’t think I’d feel safe in one – what if they EXPLODE!!! AAAhhhhhhh. They also do those water filled bras and the usual padded ones and bras with no padding at all (those are the ones I prefer) They also do some lovely nighties and Pyjama's starting at around £6.00! You'll find the ladies shoes on this floor too but I didn't think much of these but my teenage nieces shop here for theirs! Good value shoe's starting at £10.00. Anyway I think you get the general picture of what’s in this department. ~~~~~~ Household Items ~~~~~~ Well I didn’t have much time left after my big shop to check out this part of the store very well but from what I did see, there are mighty bargains to be had here to, they sold things like. Towels – Duvet Sets – Shower Curtains – Pillow Cases – Fitted Sheets – Quilts and loads of other items. I didn’t catch any price tags in this bit so I can’t comment on how cheap they all were but if the crowds of people are anything to go by then I’d say, most of it must have been cheap!! ~~~~~~ CHECK-OUTS AND STAFF ~~~~~~~ Well as you can guess, the checkouts for this store are pretty much a mile long but on the plus side they do seem to go down quickly – There were 5 tills in operation when I went to pay for my goodies and I go
t served in no time at all. The staff are pleasant and if you have a enquiry then they are only to happy to help. Their customer service till is good too – the only thing I have ever had to return was a bra and I got my money back straight away and they didn’t even ask me why I’d brought it back! ~~~~~~CONCLUSION ~~~~~~ I can honestly say I am impressed with this store – I find it bright a cheerful and hold’s loads of bargains for just about everyone. The store I visit is clean and well presented and has enough room to get a pushchair around without ramming into stuff which is always a plus for me! I would recommend anyone to have a little looksie and just see if you don’t find yourself a great bargain – now enough’s enough, I’m off now as I don’t want to bore you all to sleep :o)

- 07/01/02 It's ok, I answered my own question with their online store locator - www.primark.co.uk |

- 07/01/02 I want an exploding bra, not that I'm an attention seeker...;)
Is there one anywhere near Sheffield? |

- 07/01/02 Primarks undies have out lasted my M&S ones hands down (or is that bottoms up!)
I agree that it is hell in there on a busy Saturday and they do seem to like tills on one side only, but I remember seeing a bit in the paper saying that Primark were taking a significant share of the BHS market and that quality was higher than BHS in most cases.
My mine gripe is that they don't do larger sizes and you can find a DD bra but only upto a 36 in most cases.
Household - just can't fault them!
Brilliant op, makes me want to shop right now (bum, I'm meant to be working!) |
