***Intro***

Again I have to go shopping for a whole new wardrobe, my butt is involuntarily getting bigger and so are my hips but damnit I haven?t gotten any taller! In the last two years I have grown little more than 2 inches! That?s got to be bad! Very bad. I am still 5?3 and ashamed of it, fair to say I think people look cuter when they are short, but I?m not supposed to be one of them!
Having chan
ged my appearance and have adapted my taste in clothes it is now even more difficult to find clothes that I know I will wear often, to make things worse we are still in the holiday period and washing the same trousers every few days cannot be healthy! So instead of wearing the same 3 pairs of trousers?(that?s all I have left now other than school clothes! What a disaster) I have to go shopping! Not that I?m complaining of course?.

***Other Shops***

Ocean To Earth ? This shop is new in town, it took over the place which used to be ?Image? a shop full of good quality fair priced clothes mostly for teens. Ocean To Earth stock skate labels like BillaBong, Animal, Hunter and Vans etc. At obviously high prices, if you want one or two decent quality, skate-design clothes by all means go in here! But if your looking for any old thing you can throw on to wear around the house or, (to do as I do best this time of year) go out to get drunk in the fields and hang around in the skatepark this isn?t the best choice.

Caves ? A local shop owned by George Cave and his family, this shop stores many many hoodies, Murderdolls, Slipknot, Eminem, Blink 182, Limp Bizkit and the rest. The same bands are featured on one-size-fits t-shirts as well as the range with funny slogans. T-shirts bought from here previously display quotes such as ?I have no idea what I?m doing out of bed? and ?If you think I?m strange you should meet my mates? you get the idea. Also sold in this shop are the Wu-tang and Fubu labels aswell as many original jeans, cords, cargo trousers etc. If you buy an item in Caves you can be almost certain that no-one will order the same from a catalogue. But again, the prices are high, not as bad as Ocean To Earth but not too much better either.

New Look / Tammy ? Although entirely different shops I have the same speculations on both so may aswell save sometime and summarise them together. Although I used to do a lot of clothes shopping on the
jeans in here (ones to be worn with the small handbag and high boots) I no longer dress this way. The odd T-shirt or two can be found in both shops for not a bad price, and the skirts are a definite to be customised and warn to the monthly gigs. But, when shopping for any old thing I keep a fair distance, they have the types of clothes that drive me mad. Like when you see people walk around in with their little handbags and three-inch-thick make-up and a top that says ?Rock chick? or ?Punk? on it when you know damn well they don?t know the first thing. Having said that there are a few accessories that can be put to good use, e.g. ties with safety pins included and black hole belts and maybe the odd plain strap top to be worn under a netted top found elsewhere.

***Primark***

The usual shop we go in, although it?s not the best of places. This is definitely not a shop to go in if your looking for something to wear out and be seen looking good in! Well I suppose if you wanted to look specifically ?nice? you would be splashing out elsewhere anyway!
Products ?

There are tops for everyone in here, we have the nasty floral patterns that a typical stereo-type granny would want to buy, the small vibrantly bright flashy colours that little children don?t mind being seen in, such as lime green and hot pink. There are a lot of netted tops, chained tops and black straps for my own advantage, cropped trousers, full length trousers, many types of cheapy jeans for ripping up and ruining. There are shirts and trousers suitable for younger school children and shorts for working adults, belts, hair bands and bags have their own little range.
This is all at the front of the shop, towards the other end there are larger bags used for picnic type things and camping etc, there are the cheap plasticy slippers people tend to wear, know the ones I mean? With laces and old fluff around the edge, they have scores of those! Umbrellas and nasty bright macs for
the young ones again.
Now to the right of the shop there are underwear selections for the men and young boys, and to the left on the other side of the path that winds through the shop are hundreds..(ok not hundreds) but a LOT of bra?s and the likes for women. Loads and loads, you could get lost in there!

The Shop ?

Just next to this are the changing rooms, strangely I think they are only women?s although I never saw a sign saying that. They are very small there are only 3 cubicles with green curtains across and I?ve never seen a bloke in there.
You are supposed to take in a tag for your clothes quantity but they never bother and when you come back out instead of putting the clothes you do not wish to purchase people tend to dump them on the desk.
This desk is for customer services and always has a large queue which is probably why they don?t bother with the number tags.
A draw back to this shop is that they never know what they have sold out and what they can?t sell because the whole shop is a massive jumble of clothes.
Things aren?t shelved properly they are on the floor falling off the shelves and tangled up, the hangers do not display the right size and the price is never what it says!
I think part of the reason for this is that this store is generally a place for the kids who need an easy job having just left school.
I know of atleast 5 people aged 16-18 working in this shop, well they say their working anyway but there?s never any evidence of it.
There are three tills in the shop including the customer services which you can also pay at. The shop is a bit lower than the street outside so when searching through the racks your mates could be walking past your head outside the window and you wouldn?t notice!
The shop is also right next to the location where most of those people (I?ve forgotten what they are called! The ones which play music or sing for your change..) and last week there were too men of about
17 right next to the window.
Cor their singing was awful, they were mickey-taking of Britney Spears, and I exclaimed loudly in the shop that ? if they didn?t shut up I was gonna go and yell at them- at this two other women that I?ve never seen of about mid thirties cheered and said I should.
Although by the time I had left the shop they were gone I really think their money ? if they got any ? should go to singing lessons, it was terrible!
Anyway Primark is in the middle of town opposite Woolworths and its easy to find what you want in there, you just gotta push a few other things out the way there?s always something there. And it is unbelievably cheap, not to the point of charity-ness but it can be £5 for a top that looks really good and could be found for £12 in New Look or wherever else.
Another Primark I have also been in was in Taunton, and the state of the shop was no better it was still a big mess, their range was slightly broader and they sold more pyjamas and swimwear than the Primark in yeovil but there wasn?t much difference other than that.

***Conclusion***

I think that all shopping areas near me have a New Look, an Etam/Tammy, a Primark and a Woolworths. So if you want to get a good deal for your money and buy your kids a couple t-shirts or little jogging trousers (bless ?em) go in there.
If your mother-in-law wants a scary flowery top go in there, and if generally you want something casual for everyday use then Primark is the place to go.

My purchases from Primark this month:

A black fitted shirt (£5)
A low-cut black tight shirt with longer sleeves and silver hook fastenings (£5)
A baggy black shirt to hang around in (£4.50)
A purple low cut translucent top with angel-arm sleeves for the gig (£4)
A low top with a swirl knot below the chest (£4)
A ribbed white tight top with 3/4sleeves to go job-hunting (£4)
Long Black trousers with straps and a lot of pockets (£12)
A B
lack hole belt (£1.50)
