Advantages: Cheap, Cheap, Cheap
Disadvantages: Can take a little rummaging
QD (Quality Discount) Stores are located within the east of England and are large retailers selling items at prices alot less than most supermarkets and department stores etc.
My local QD store is located about 20 minutes from my house, so close enough to pop to when I want to pick up a bargain but far enough away so I am not in there everyday sending myself bankrupt.
QD stock pretty much everything that you can think of, and some you can't. If you cannot find what you are looking for in this store then it probably does not exist.
I am going to review my local QD store, so this I cannot guarantee all of their other stores are the same as I have only ever been to this one.
In my local QD store they stock a large range of items from bedsheets, curtains, rugs, cushions, candles, car accessories, childrens toys, women's - mens and childrens clothes, tupperware, kitchen items including plates, mugs, cooking utensils etc, various books, garden furniture and even living room furniture (my local store also sells sweets, tea, coffee and other food items - non perishable) - the list goes on, but you get the picture.
All items that you can buy cost far less than what you would pay in Tesco or Argos or somewhere like that - The way I would describe this shop is a cross between Wilkinsons and a large market.
Just to give you a little information on prices I have just recently brought single fitted bedsheets for my little boys bed and they each cost me £2.99, and the quality is excellent, they do feel a little plasticy when out of the packaging but once washed they feel lovely and soft (as we are bed time potty training who the hell wants to spend £10 on a fitted bed sheet). I have also been looking recently for a large pin board for my kitchen and the cheapest one I could find in the size i wanted was £20 from e-bay, but low and behold I found it in my local QD for £4.99 so I brought 2 (I do not need two - one is a just in case).
Princes for clothes range from £1.50 for a ladies t-shirt to £2.50 for a man's, I buy all of my partners work clothes from here.
When I first ever brought my first flat I kitted my whole kitchen out from QD for around £20 that included plates, mugs, chopping boards, kitchen utensils, measuring jugs and just about anything else you can think of.
This shop is fantastic and I always find the staff helpful and friendly - taking items back is also very easy as I once brought my friend some bowls only to get home and find she had already found some that day, so I took the one's back I brought and they refunded my money quickly and efficiently.
You can buy pretty much anything in this shop and I find it great around Christmas time as they have a large amount of decorations and wrapping paper for sale, along with lots of stocking fillers for the children.
I have also recently just brought lots of seeds from QD and some hanging baskets which cost me £1.99 per hanging basket, all ready for my garden so I think it cost me about £8 to kit my garden out for the summer.
I would highly recommend this shop to anyone who loves getting a bargain, sometimes when you first walk in it can look a little chaotic, but do not let that put you off. Also just because alot of the stuff is cheap the quality is still really good.
The only downside is if you are looking for a pair of men's jeans in a size 14 sometimes they do not have the size in the particular style you are looking for, but if you ask a member of staff they are usually very helpful and will try and locate something for you, if not they always let you know when their next delivery will be.
I have to say I could now not live without this shop.
Summary: For all you bargain hunters
