Advantages: Stylish

Disadvantages: Expensive

A large House of Frazer has just opened in Belfast where I live and so the novely of this store has not worn thin. The store is very impressive, spacious and well designed. Department stores can be hit and miss, the Debenhams here is very tired and suffers from a lack of light which is a bit of a bugbear with me.

You could certainly spend a few hours in House of Frazer, even in these credit crunching times. It is pretty high end, some of the clothes are eye wateringly expensive but not everything is, the cosmetics/scents and much of the clothing costs what it would elsewhere. The store is divided up into sections by Designer or range, the displays are very eye catching and slick. The store stocks clothes, cosmetics, electricals and homeware so there's something for everyone. One noticable feature is the abundance of staff, all very well dressed and courteous, you'd wonder at times what they all do since there are so many.

We ate in the Oyster bar, starting with oysters in Guinness just to try it, mmmm... not my cup of tea but worth a try, the salmon open sandwich I had after was fresh, light and well presented. There is a bar/restaurant and a coffee shop too so you could literally spend the day there.

Shopping heaven for the addicted shopper.

Summary: Stylish department store
