Disadvantages: Staff and Bad Customer Service
I spent over £130 in West Bromwich branch within the West Midlands. I paid by cheque and I was waiting for it to be authorised. I was waiting for a good 10 mins and one it was authorised I took my bank card and went out the shop as my parking ticket was due to expired.
When I've got to my car I realised that I forgot to ask for a receipt. Went back and the manager accussed me of taking the ticket and he saw me put it in my purse. I could not believe what I was hearing. What kind of treatment is that??? He was rude and arrogant. He could have acted in a reasonable manner saying if I could come back the next day while they look for the receipt. How dare he accuse a customer of obtaining the receipt after they have spent ober £130 on the store.
I phoned the head office and they phoned me back to say the store in fact had my receipt in their till. That does not excuse the fact he accussed me of obtaining the receipt. I wrote to the head office to requested a written apology from the store manager regarding his treatment towards me. They apologised on his behalf which is not I want and I didn't get any compensation. River Island says they value their customers. I DO NOT THINK SO! I will stay away from THE WEST BROMWICH BRANCH.
I don't know why River Island have him as a manager if he could treated customers like that. People like him give the company a bad name and publicity.
Summary: The service provided by the manager was terrible... he was well way out of order.

- 10/08/06 Yeah! I know this is more of rant. This is my first time I went to that branch and I was treated like that. I usually go to the Birmingham Bullring branch which I found the staff to be friendly, polite and helpful. I'm just going to stick to the Birmingham Branch from now on. |

- 26/07/06 Hi you have not really gone into much about river island in terms of what they sell, do they have a store card, how easy is it to find things. From what you have just said can I suggest you contact River Islands Head Office and put a complaint in writing, there staff will never get any better if no one complains, have to say though have always found the staff in branches in Bradford, Leeds etc really helpful. |
