Advantages: Bit different from other high street retailers, Good shoes and handbags

Disadvantages: Poor staff, loud music instore

As a hardened high street fashionista, River Island is a shop I quite frequently visit.

River Island is aimed at the fashion concious, and people may be put off by some of their slightly "wackier" items. Fear not though, as this shop usually has a gem or three.

Instore shopping at River Island is sometimes off putting due to the fact that every branch I've ever been to has very loud music playing, however do not let this put you off.

Accessories are one of River Islands stand out points, with their handbags and shoes being a favourite of both mine and my friends. Although there shoes can be quite pricey, they are very fashion forward and make you stand out from the crowd.

"Going out" clothes from River Island are also a strong point, especially there dresses. They are definately not in the same pricepoint of similar dresses from New Look, but this means your less likely to bump into someone in the same outfit on a night out. Sometimes you need to look out for slightly poorer quality.

River Island is great if you want an item thats a little bit different from whats on offer elsewhere, just don't be expecting a full purse when you leave
