Disadvantages: Locations could be better - exploiting those without cars??!

Living in Durham, with no car, I really have no choice but to shop at Safeway or Iceland. Seeing as Safeway is bigger, this is where I shop. I do like it, but I have a feeling some things are maybe not as cheap as they would be if I shopped at a big out-of-town supermarket.

Given that this store is located in such a student populated area, it can sometimes be frustrating that there is never any cheap bread left or that the choice is limited due to the space available. These are minor quibbles, and are mainly to do with the location that it finds itself in.

I have been in many other Safeway stores and am usually impressed by the prices. I do feel that a lot of them could do with a bit of a revamp however, as I always think they look slightly grubby. Generally the prices are low (not as low as ASDA though) and the special offers are good.

I believe that getting rid of the ABC card is a good thing. It never offered much value for money anyway and you used to have to pay extra anyway if you wanted something decent. Far better to reduce prices overall.

The leaflet they produce every week with the special offers is also very good. When they used to have the offers of the week on when I lived in a student house, we very often ended up with six lots of whatever it was. You can never have too much toilet roll, especially when everyone in the house buys a pack of six.
