For the last six months or so Safeway have been running a line of incredible offers each week, at prices so slashed they almost leep of the shelves into peoples trolleys, this week alone I bought sugar at 35p, donuts at 29p for 4, and kitchen rolls at 69p from about £2. If you live near a store you get leafleted in advance each week with a ... Read the complete review

I have recently discovered a Safeway store that is within reasonably travelling distance and have been very impressed with what I have seen. I find Safeway to be an excellent source of very cheap products and always stock up on the loss leaders, even if its not what I need at that time, I work on the principle that if I'm going to need ... First, acknowledgments to Elena (opinion lurking somewhere down below in this Safeway column) for listing this weeks amazing bargains. I, too, have had a SAFEWAY leaflet through my door, and I would like to point out to all you who are moaning about petrol prices/boycotts (see my contribution to the great petrol debate) that, this ... I have only ever been to my local branch of Safeways, which is in Loughton in Essex, and have always found it quite awful. I was amazed to come to this site and read so many opinions saying Safeways was good. Maybe my store is particulaly bad, but we have empty shelves, horrendously bruised fruit, goods that are up to or even past there sell by ... Read the complete review

Safeway has discontinued the use of their loyalty cards to the most important shoppers who frequent their stores - their loyal customers. Gone is the incentive for customers to do their shopping week in week out,in order to accumulate their points so they can cash them in to pay for that "special treat" or Christmas. Instead, they ... I'm very impressed with Safeways bargains at the moment. Every week they send me a large leaflet with all the reduced price items. Most of which are half price or even less. Examples of which appeared in recent leaflets: 6 pts Milk 69p Quavers (6 packets) 39p Sugar 39p This is not my diet, bye the way!! ... Read the complete review

Every week, Safeway slashes the price, sometimes by more than half, on a range of goods. There are more than 40 items. For the benefit of those of you who do not get the leaflet through your door, here is a summary of 10 of the best: (excuse the lack of tabbing, dooyoo is a bit primitive!) Item normal price ... All you hardened bargain hunters probably know this already but I'll tell you anyway. Last week I popped into my Local Safeway about 10 mins before they were due to close. I only wanted a loaf of bread and some milk. As I strode, purposefully past the deli counter a high pitched voice called out, " Excuse me sir! Do you want a ... Read the complete review

The SAFEWAY ABC Points system has reached its final days. Shoppers are no longer able to collect ABC Points as of 31st May 2000. However, they still have the freedom to redeem their points on items in-store or at the SAFEWAY Café, till the 30th of October. It has been decided that shoppers prefer to have more discounted items rather than to ... Read the complete review

Don't throw away your SAFEWAY loyalty card - it is worth £2.50, Once you have collected all the points on your ABC card, do not let them confiscate it (the cashiers are instructed to "offer" to cut it in half for you!)! Tesco's are offering 250 points (instantly redeemable for £2.50) if you give it to them and join ... Read the complete review

I’ve always thought Safeway was a bit of a strange name for a supermarket, a name you’d be more likely to find on a box of ‘something for the weekend’, and I still wonder where it came from. As well as groceries, our local store stocks children’s clothes and household goods such as crockery, kitchen utensils, ... Read the complete review

I have been challenged. Ridiculed. Exposed. My very strength of character has been questioned. My honour is at stake. I was about to suggest a dual at dawn. Cordless mice the chosen weapons? You know who you are! But my pioneer spirit kicked in, and being made of strong stuff, I bit the bullet and made another attempt. ... Read the complete review

Safeway has been my choice for a while now. Not only do they have a wide range of products but fantastic offers every week. The offers include "buy 1 get 1 free" deals and also many products at half price or less which change every Wednesday. My nearest supermarket is a Safeway’s store so I visit there quite often. I was quite disappointed when I visited my local safeway this week, they had rearranged the layout of the fruit and veg dept, all the aisles were on an angle, this was really frustrating when you were trying to manouver a trolley, the width between the aisles was dramatically reduced, and I was forced to stand and wait several times whilst other ... For the past three years since Safeway opened their new store near us, we have been using them regularly (and loyally)for groceries and collecting the ABC points. I was a bit dubious about using Safeways for the first time in a long time. The reason I was going to do my shopping there and not my usual Asda is because I had moved to a different county and my nearest Asda was nearly 25 miles away. I cannot really comment on Safeway as a whole as I have never used one to do my regular shopping, but I can comment on their ridiculous selection of beers, whose inormity breaches levels of the sensible.
