Advantages: salad bar, basics range

Disadvantages: cost a little more than tesco and asda

Sainsburys is now the third largest supermarket chain in the country, having been overtaken by asda and tesco.
Yes sainsburys is a typical supermarket in terms of what it sells, but there are some key features which i will try and explain;

Own brands - Sainsburys sells own brand food, as well as a budget range (basics) and a luxury range (taste the difference) which suit whatever price range you have. As a student i fall often into the budget category, and lots of their budget stuff, like jelly, biscuits, noodles and pasta are great cheap and easy cupboard staples.

Clothing - sainsburys own clothing range is called Tu, and it does seem to be very popular. i wouldn't really describe it as young trend, but its a place where you can pick up basic items if you need to.

Salad Bar - not all sainsburys have these, but its one of my favourite parts. the price depends on the size of the bowl, but basically there are lots of different salads to chose from and you fill up your bowl with it! a yummy lunch! Their pre packed sandwiches also aren't too bad compared to some places

Prices - whilst they do try to be competitive, i find some of the other chains do hold an edge over sainsburys.

Summary: good for convenience, but other supermarkets are cheaper.
