Advantages: Good quality and variety

Disadvantages: Not much promotions

I do most of my main grocery shopping at Sainsbury's simply because it is the nearest supermarket for me. Whilst I have often been told by the media and friends alike that Tesco and Asda are better places to shop, I find Sainsbury's equally good if not better at times. Prices for normal everyday essentials are generally the same everywhere and therefore it makes no difference where one shops most of the time.

However, I am of the opinion that fruits and vegetables particularly at Sainsbury's are of excellent quality although my local Sainsbury's is not huge and therefore does not carry a wide variety. The store also has a deli counter and a bakery in it. Sainsbury's own-label food products are generally good and offers a cheaper alternative to shoppers who are feeling the pinch in the current economic climate.

The stores are well organised, clean and welcoming. It is a pleasure to manoeuvre the trolleys along the wide aisles whilst browsing through the items on the shelves. Prices are well indicated and promotions highlighted. As a bargain hunter however, I must admit that Sainsbury's do not always offer hundreds and thousands of promotions like some other supermarkets.

The staff are very helpful and courteous even on busy days. I also like the nectar membership rewards and I have been loyally collecting reward points over the years. Points are redeemable at Sainsbury's and some other retail partners. I also enjoy collecting the recipe cards available instore as promoted by Jamie Oliver on tv especially the 'feed your family for a fiver' range.
