Where I live there are three Sainsbury's all really close. This is super handy but at a cost!
Annoyingly as a student in student halls the closest and most conveinient Sainsburys is a smaller local one. In this store however everything is more expensive than the prices in the normally size superstore within the city centre. I find this a bit of a joke. My weekly shop in the small store costs about £2 more!- Which does not sound much but thats about a 10% increase!
Sainsburys however is a great store. It has the reputation of being more expensive than Asda or Tesco and maybe on some products it is. But I can do a shop in there for a very similar price of that in Asda so I am happy about that!
The service in all supermarkets is now very high. With prices stupidly low on things this seems to be the only thing that differs between the companies. And to be honest sometimes I go there and its great sometimes its not. Its just about who serves me not the company on a whole!
All in all Sainsburys although cheeky for marking up prices for students is a great supermarket that needs to keep plugging away to stay ahead of Morrison's and catch up the big two! Unlikely but who knows!

- 29/05/09 I think all the Locals are more expensive than the big ones, like Tesco's Metros and Expresses. |
