SCATS - Southern Countire Agricultural Trading Society, is a chain of countrystore found in the Southern Counties (as the name suggests). It sells a wide range of products varying from pets, equestrian, gardens, outdoor clothes, wood, sheds, tools etc. For those who are in farming I guess these are pretty much a one stop shop. You can go here for fencing, wormer and sheep dip!! For those non farmers, you can buy your seeds and plants, compost, and sometimes they have special buys such as washing machines and vacuum cleaners!

The prices are competitive and they have a good amount of special offers, so if you need to stock up on cat food their pretty good.

You can purchase most items in bulk e.g. 25kg bird seed, large boxes of washing powder and trays of dog food tins, if thats what you need. It can work out more economical than using the local supermarket.

My only qualm with SCATS is the staff. In my local one the staff are generally rude, cannot be bothered and won't help you to the car with your heavy shopping. They aren't people who are interested in what they sell, they are obviously only there because they need a job thats easy and pays the minimum wage. I have to blame the management though, as they good be trained better and at least get some supervision.

Another problem some people might find, it that some animal medicines are precription only and can only be sold when a qualified person is around. My store only has one such person, so when they are on holiday/on lunch/having a fag round the back, then you cannot buy the medicine.

I do shop here primarily for the prices and I don't have to travel so far.

Summary: Deals make it worth it
