Advantages: New stock on a regular basis, accept credit cards and switch

Disadvantages: Clothes arranged by colour not order

It would be a waste of time to claim that one charity shop is 'better' than another one. Basically, if you're serious about finding that dirt-cheap bargain, you're going to have to look through every rail of every second-hand shop in your local town and even then there is a chance that you might return home emptyhanded.

However, Scope does seem to charge pretty low prices and gets in new stock almost every day. As the other review mentions, they've recently started accepting credit cards which means you don't have to beg the volunteer to hold that dream purchase while you run around to the cash machine! They usually have a decent selection of books too, although those which might be collectable are usually put behind glass and the price is increased accordingly.

I do wish that Scope would sort items by size instead of colour. This means that you spend much less time rooting through clothes that are miles too big/small anyway!

All in all, well worth a visit for the second hand shopper with patience and time to spare.

An interesting view on Scope in general, but it doesn`t sound a lot like the Scope I work in as a volunteer. There, clothes are sorted by size and colour, and nothing is kept behind glass. Not all shops are run on the same lines, for example some don`t sell anything over £2.
