SelectNewest Review: ... for a specific item of clothing, I think I have only ever been in when I have been at a loose end waiting for someone etc, but I do not even bother doing that anymore, I would rather shop at Primark, and if you have seen my review of Primark you will know I can't stand that place either!!! In summary, I would walk past Select, may have a glance in the window at what the dummies are ... more |

There are a couple of Selects in the local area to me and goodness knows how they carry on going, they never seem to have anyone in them, well at least when I used to go in them they didn't. They are a retailer of womens clothes, it seems to me like they are trying to be high fashion but the whole thing just doesn't work. I don't know I can't really describe it. The stores are tiny, and badly laid out, I would think it is very hard to find what you want in there. My local one really needs recarpeting or something. As soon as you go in there are a few sad pieces of jewellery hanging up, quite often many of them are reduced. The shoes remind me of ... Read the complete review

I've never felt really strongly about a shop before, either in a positive or negative way, but Select really is an appalling excuse for a shop. It's a high street chain which is at the very cheap end of the scale price-wise. My local store is very small and cramped, and always looks cluttered and untidy. There is no real organisation or arrangement in the store, no departments or separate sections, so it can be hard to find what you want if you're after something specific. And there's not even any real distinction between the normal items and the sale rails, they're just all jumbled in together, so it can be quite confusing. The clothes are very ... I live in a area which the high street consists of lots of pound shops and charity shops. Now don't get me wrong I love a good rummage through cancer research, looking to grab a bargain or two. Sometimes I do like to pick up a couple of key items in the latest trend to team with my second hand offerings. Now we have peacocks and ethel austin both shops which I usually go to, and we also have a New look and Dorethy Perkins, which I tend to avoid not sure why really... Maybe because they seem more expensive Anyway we also have a select which I always ignored as I have always been a bit on the larger size and they only go up to size ... Read the complete review

I work in a town where the only shops that are remotely worth visiting on my lunch break are a tiny Boots, Iceland (If you're into frozen food) and a Select, so as you can see my choices are very limited. So instead of, God forbid, spending my lunch hour sitting in the staff room at work, making small talk with my boss, I often venture out into the town and kill a good number of minutes browsing in Select. Working in a clothes shop myself I often notice the layout and general appearance of stores and I have to admit that from a customer's point of view my local Select is not very pleasing to the eye. There does not seem to be much thought that has gone into ... Read the complete review

Select is a high street shop, but i don't think it is very well known ( i may be wrong!) But i have bought a few things from there before, but i am not a regular customer. I would say it is a pretty mediocre shop! To start with the good, i think that it is cheap compared to other high street stores and i think that there is a very wide type and range of items. It sells in sizes 8-18 which in my opinion is a good range of sizes. However the quality of the clothes are very poor! The few things that i have bought from there have not lasted me long. A black top that i bought a couple of months ago has already faded a lot! What i also did not ... Read the complete review
