Advantages: never know what you might find
Disadvantages: doesn't have a huge turn around so a visit every 2nd month is plenty.
How many of us have that special dress hanging in the back of the wardrobe? You know, the one that cost you a fortune but you've only worn it once and will probably never wear again. I'm sure many of us have a wardrobe like this. Well now help is at hand for your over crowded wardrobe. Sellers dress agency in Aberdeen is an Aladdin's cave of treasure. Hidden down a little lane off Union Street is a small white building that stands all on its own. It is a small shop but it holds a lot of stock. This is the ideal home for all those expensive outfits that have been consigned to the furthest reaches of your wardrobe. Sellers will take any item of good make and sell it on your behalf. The makes of clothes range from Oasis and Principles to designer names such as Jasper Conran and Valentino. The system works in the following manner. First of all phone up to make an appointment (they like to know when you are bringing in stuff), then you bring in the clothes that you wish to sell freshly washed or dry cleaned. The clothes are very thoroughly checked and then assessed to see if they are suitable for sale in the shop. The shop works on a 50-50 basis. When the clothes are sold the amount raised is split equally between you and the shop. The shop is arranged into sections that change depending on the seasons. When I was last in it was winter so the Xmas party dresses were on main display. There is a section for suits, dresses, jackets, coats, jeans, woollens and what you could call "mother of the bride" outfits. They also sell shoes (but they must be very hardly worn!), costume jewellery and accessories such as handbags and scarves. It really is a treasure trove as you never know what you might find - the stock changes all the time. Obviously sizes are hit or miss but they range tremendously. I like it as they do a lot of small sizes but the larger lady is also well catered for. I introduced some
of my friends to the shop a couple of weeks ago and we all left with something for the Xmas party season. If you are ever in Aberdeen I would highly recommend a visit especially if you need that special outfit for a wedding. It's a brilliant place to take all the clothes that you will never wear again but don't want to give to charity because they cost so much! Well worth a visit.
