Advantages: Exclusive Shops

Disadvantages: Cheap shops - there aren't any!

I am a very lucky lady. I am a resident of Bath. There are plenty of things that this entails and i shall not mention the council & rubbish collections.

Bath is a beautiful, well preserved Georgian city. Yes there are a couple of ancient Roman bits, but predominantly this city is full of faded granduer and wistful views.

Shopping in Bath is glorious. We have most of the usual suspects; HOF, Gap (& Gap Baby), Topshop, Waterstones, WHSmith, BHS, Millets, JJB Sports the list goes on... most of these shops are fair in comparison to other branches, but they can often lack space due to the building restrictions. I'm sure i haven't sucessfuly plummed the depths of HOF.

We also lack some of the other suspects; Primark, New Look, Peacocks, Wilkinsons... no cheapies here!

What is worth noting are the independents and more exclusive chains. Designer wise we have Karen Millen & Reiss for the more mainstream. Toast for lovely things. Square for off the peg proper designer, along with Mee for designer shoes and some Burberry bags. Prey is also worth a mention for excellent (expensive) gifts, and some gorgeous unheard of designer clothes, often in the 75% sale as they are so expensive!

Bloomsbury is a real favorite with everyone and simply stuffed with anything from Paul Smith collections, Avoca clothes, and italian hand made bicycles right down to well-made colouring pencils and cook books! They also carry many beautiful & design led jewellery collections. Even more bizarely there is a vegetarian cafe upstairs that is always packed - fabulous Illy coffee.

The only down in Bath is the tourists! i have lived in Canterbury too and as a resident you just end up walking straight through people taking photos - i must be in loads!

I reccomend shopping in Bath for something special - Mallorys have the best engagement rings!

Summary: Something special & beautiful surroundings

Very very long time since I went there. Nice to think that chain stores haven't taken over completely as with so many places.
