My partner was nagging the other day that she wanted to go shopping so we decided to spend the day in Exeter. We decided to go by train so that we didn't have to worry about car parking. Exeter is a good place for shopping and with a few places to go there is plenty of variety. I have listed my 5 top shops/shopping centres from my visit. 1) Princess Hay This is a new shopping development built in 2007. The shops are open until 6pm which for people around this part of the Country is quite revolutionary. It may be hard to believe but shops tend to close early in Devon and Cornwall and 6pm is quite impressive. There is a mixture of shops around ...  Read the complete review

I have lived around Exeter my whole life so it would be fair to say that I am familiar with the shopping areas. I am sure many visitors to Exeter will do some shopping in some form or another, so I am here to give you a brief yet fully informative account of the shopping on offer. The shopping area is best ...  Read the complete review

My name is Claire and I am a shopoholic. There, I've said it now. And frankly, Exeter is doing nothing to feed my addiction. I have lived in Exeter for 2 and a half years noiw. Before that I lived in Birmingham for 5 years, and have spent a lot of time in Glasgow, both big guns of the shopping world, and Exeter really doesn't cut the mustard in comparison. To be fair to Exeter, in the last few years and it has changed enormously and mostly for the better. The new Princesshay development has brough new and better shops with a more pleasant shopping experience (as well as some much needed restaurants for that all-important shoppers lunch; a girl needs ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Shopping Areas in Exeter: Princesshay (320 words)

As the last review comments on what a mess Exeter City centre is - I think it is time for an update! The long awaited Princesshay shopping development is finished! And very nice it is too. The final touches were put between Autumn and Christmas 2007, with a few shops not opening till Spring this year. I have to admit, I was a bit cynical when the building work was going on, thinking that this might be a white elephant - but in fact I am very impressed with the architecture, which is modern without detracting from some of the very old buildings we have, not least the Cathedral. The new shopping centre is partially covered but with a glass roof so it ...  Read the complete review
