Inverness does have a lot of shops but mainly small shops, even the chains are a lot smaller than other cities but good enough for what you need. There is the Eastgate Centre which had a new part opened in 2003, this made the Eastgate a lot lot bigger with a lot more shops as well as a food court. As well as the Eastgate you can also shop in the Victorian Market with loads of smaller shops for souvenirs and other bits and pieces. With the Eastgate located in the Centre of Inverness it also offers the High Street with many more shops here also.
