Advantages: Loads of variety

Disadvantages: All spread about so you would be best with a car to get about with ease

Inverness does have a lot of shops but mainly small shops, even the chains are a lot smaller than other cities but good enough for what you need. There is the Eastgate Centre which had a new part opened in 2003, this made the Eastgate a lot lot bigger with a lot more shops as well as a food court. As well as the Eastgate you can also shop in the Victorian Market with loads of smaller shops for souvenirs and other bits and pieces. With the Eastgate located in the Centre of Inverness it also offers the High Street with many more shops here also.

Finally outwith the centre of Inverness there are two retail parks, one on the Aberdeen Road (A96) which offers larger shops with plenty of parking. This consists of Tesco Extra, Borders with Starbucks upstairs, Outfit, Boots, Comet, Maplin, Clarks, JJB Sports, Mothercare, Pets at Home, Argos, Homebase, Vue Cinema, Pizza Hut and Burger King. It is a lot easier to get to than the city centre with free parking.

The other retail park is up at Inshes, it is a lot smaller based near Raigmore Hospital. There is only Tesco, Focus, Deichmann Shoes, Happit and Matalan here, again there is free parking here but can be quite hard to get up to this retail park as the roads are always busy and can be a traffic jams at peak hours.

Overall there is plenty shops to choose from and you don't always have to go into the centre to get what you need
