Advantages: Good size, plenty of parking, plenty of shops

Disadvantages: Not as great as Cardiff, but still fab

Like almost every other girl, I am a big fan of shopping! Clothes, makeup, bags, music, dvds; you name it, I've probably bought it! A lot of people always head to Cardiff for their shopping buzz, but I actually find that Newport is pretty good for finding what you need.

The city centre is probably where most people tend to head for their shopping needs. Recently the council have been undergoing plans to turn Newport's city centre around, bringing in new shops, better facilities and making it a nicer environment. There's plenty to choose from. From Primark and Peacocks, through to Monsoon, Topshop and River Island. There's plenty of one off clothes shops around too. My favourite shop of all is Accessorize; which I could spend hours in. It;s a great size too, and I almost always find something that takes my fancy! There;s a couple of bookshops; WH Smith being the biggest and there is also a Waterstone's. For music and film fans there's a good sized HMV. nd for all you coffee lovers there's a Starbucks. There's plenty of shops for guys too! Topshop, Primark and Riverland have their own male sections, and next to Dorothy Perkins is a Burtons. The city centre is easy to navigate around, as it is pretty much just a straight line of shops, which is easily walkable. There is also an indoors shopping area, which includes Claire's Accessories, another Topshop and Wilkinson's. Parking also isn;t that expensive, and presrntly there are two open indoor car parks. There's always spaces in each one too! There are always free parking spaces dotted around (my boyfriend always insists we park in them!). They do entail a bit of a walk, but it isn;t far, and it's worth it to save a few pounds!

The other main shopping area in Newport is the Sptty Retail Park. I'm lucky enough to live very close to here, and when I got my first proper job, every week I'd been drawn to the shops! I've since managed to gain control over my shopping urges however! It;s a great little place to do some shopping! There is a massive Newlook, which I would go as far to say that it is better than the one in Cardiff. There's a good sized Peacocks, Asda Living, Boots and an Outfitter. This includes Warehouse, Miss Selfridges, Dorothy Perkins, Evand and Burtons. We also have a next, a sofa shop, the Range, Lidl, Iceland and two sports shops.

I'd say that the shoping experience is getting much better at Newport. And although like my friends, I do adore Cardiff shopping and prefer it, I can quite often be found at Newport!

Summary: Good for almost every need!

Good review - could use a few more paragraphs tho, as you get carried away with the shopping enthusiasm a little ;-)
