Advantages: It has the essentials
Disadvantages: Its gone downhill
Paisley has over the past couple has years lost a lot of its shops due to the fact that Braehead shopping Centre has opened and is easy access for people going shopping.
Paisley today has a shopping centre and a piazza centre. The Piazza Centre is a shopping centre which has shops such as Poundland, New Looks, Somerfield, Card and Gift shops, Semi Chem to name a few. There is a post office in this centre which is open 9 til 5 monday to saturday. There is carpark access in this shopping centre as well. The carpark is at a cost tho depending on how long you plan on staying there, prices range from 30p - £3.00.
The main Shopping Centre in Paisley is located over 3 floors, the top floor has mobile phone shop, thorntons, oneills, perfume shop, M&S, card shops and some clothes shops, the middle floor is a market type floor with lots of instore shops selling meat, mobile phone covers, mobiles, clothes, photo's etc.. there is a cafe which prepares and serves excellent food. The ground floor of the shopping centre has a sports shop, card shop, fruit stall, a shop and a greggs.. The shopping centre does have a lot of good things about it but has taken a bit of a bump with braehead opening.
In and around paisley there are shops which are not in the shopping centre, sports shops, convience stores, argos to name a few. These are on the main drags and are easily accessed by all.
Paisley is a place that most people unless they really have to go too.. People who do not have access to Braehead or need something in a hurry.
Paisley has a few supermarkets in its town but to get main supermarkets you have to go just outside Paisley
Summary: Not for everyone

- 22/07/09 Interesting read. My sister had told me about the effect Braehead has had on Paisley - I remember shopping here in my youth, back in the days when there were regular buses between the town and East Kilbride. |
