Advantages: Being a town centre, funnily enough it if very central to all of the schemes., Lots of pubs/places to eat, The farmers market.
Disadvantages: Not all under cover., Paying for parking.
Paisley....Scotlands largest town... Indeed you would think a town that boasts this title would at least have good options when it comes to shopping,or at the very least you woud be able to get free parking right? Depends on what you are looking for to be honest, especially now with Braehead a mere 10 minute bus journey from the town,I fear this will eventually lead to the demise of Paisley town centre as we know it,or indeed knew it in the past. Slowly the retailers seem to be packing up shop(excuse the pun) for one reason or another,be it the lack of free parking facilities or the growing exodus to Braehead by potential customers. It really is a shame for hard working employees who lose thier jobs for the sake of a few parking restrictions.(Renfrewshire council take note!) Anyway,I won't generalise by going on about this "part" of Paisley. The town centre itself mainly consists of the Paisley centre,The Piazza and the High street. Various shoe shops, electrical retailers, clothes shops, card shops, hardware stores and of course your local Safeway, make for a decent days shopping, and you are spoiled for choice when it comes to picking somewhere for a spot of lunch.Greggs,Burger King,McDonalds and several little cafes dotted about the area will never leave you hungry. There are a large amount of pubs,if you like your pie and pint, which most of us do.(Even if it is just the pint and not the pie) There is also an "Inshops",which if you have never came across,is kind of a shopping centre in a shopping centre with several "smaller" retailers plying thier trade. The pick of which has to be Wholesale Sports if you like your football shirts. Not to mention the outstanding farmers market every saturday morning in County Square. A selection of the freshest produce made locally.Be it fresh meat, vegetables, confectionary or even beer! Without a doubt the downside has to be all of the shops not
being in the one shopping centre and all of them not be ing undercover. If it were to rain,I'm sure 9 and a half out of 10 people would prefer to do thier shopping undercover, which is obviously the attraction of a place like Braehead, never mind the vast selection of retailers available there. If you do indeed stay in Paisley, then you are never short of a corner shop,as there are a large amount of these dotted about the town,as the town has a fair amount of local shopping facilities,be it a Co-op,Kwiksave or an Iceland. Anyway,if you come to Paisley for a shopping trip there are plenty of car parks/spaces if you are willing to pay unfortunately. I hope this sums it up for you and I do indeed think its worth a visit, even if it is just a quick stop of for a look around while you are on your way to Braehead shopping centre.
