Advantages: Tudor buildings, multi story car park.

Disadvantages: Lots of empty units, only a small amount of non chain shops.

I live in shrewsbury, I have done for the past 13 years, shrewsbury used to be a bustling town, full of interesting shops. But as the years have gone by and the recession has hit the uk it has effected shrewsbury a lot. The town is now filled with empty units, and the ones that are now filled are generally well known stores that you could shop at anywhere else, or online.

The main shopping area in shrewsbury is on the high street, where there are two indoor shopping centres, pride hill and Charles Darwin. To access the town you can either come via bus, car ( there is a multi story car park ) or train, as there is a train station a 5 minute walk from the high street.

The only good thing about shopping in shrewsbury is that if you go of the main high street there are lots of great Tudor buildings to admire. Also if you visit the square ( at the end of the high street ) there is a very nice 1 room old fashioned style cinema ( although you must book in advance ). There also is a cineworld cinema, about a 5 minute walk from the town.

To conclude if you are looking for the standard high street shops, and nothing special then shrewsbury is good, but if you are looking for a range of unique boutique style shops then look elsewhere.

Summary: Nothing special, and not worth making a long trip.
