Shopping Areas in TruroNewest Review: ... those great power sellers. Cargo sells a range of interesting clothing downstairs and a beautiful collection of prom dresses in every colour of the rainbow upstairs. With shops like this, you buy one of pieces where there is no chance of bumping into someone else wearing the same thing. Other quaint little shops include Phoenix, which sells many beautiful hand made cards and The Emporium ... more |

Thousands of tourists come to Cornwall every year in search of sun, surf and.......shops??? I don't think so. Truro, incedentally the capital of Cornwall, is certainly not a shopping mecca but when having an amble around this picturesque city with its cobbled streets and thin alley ways, visitors will be pleasantly suprised by some of the little family run shops that still survive within this town. H&M, Primark, and GAP there is not, but shops such as Cargo are far more intriguing to browse in than those great power sellers. Cargo sells a range of interesting clothing downstairs and a beautiful collection of prom dresses in every colour of the rainbow ... Read the complete review

Truro is my home town and I'd never move, especially now that the shopping areas are much improved! When I first moved to Truro in 2001, there were a few big shops like M&S but nothing on the scale of 'larger' cities like Plymouth or Exeter. In fact my friends and I used to make a special trip out of the county to do any decent shopping! Since the redevelopment of Lemon Quay around 8 years ago now, a new age of shopping has been heralded in Truro. We have seen Lush, TK Maxx, Thorntons, Claires Accessories, Accessorize, Phase 8, Principals, Starbucks, Costa, Debenhams Desire, Peacocks and loads more that I can't remember right now! This may seem silly ... Read the complete review

Cornwall is unquestionably one of Britain's favourite holiday attractions. Mainly because of the vast abundance of beaches and other such summer delights, Cornwall is not known to be the best place to shop, especially if you are a tourist (or, as us Cornish say, "emmet") on holiday. But if you live in Cornwall, believe it or not, you still have to live a normal life, and shopping is included. So, for any of you who has had the pleasure to visit the wonderful county, you probably wouldn't have noticed the great shopping towns such as Truro as you were probably concentrating on getting a tan down at Gwithian. But great shopping cities, whilst not in the same league as ... Read the complete review

Truro is Cornwall's Administration centre, and a friendlier city you'd be hard pushed to find. All the major stores you are looking for are here, such as Marks and Spencer,Laura Ashley etc. and a large Lakeland shop which is great to browse around. There aren't too many Lakeland shops around the country so to find one in Truro is great. Lakeland store all the gadgets etc. you need in the home, especially concentrating on kitchen items. I spent over an hour wandering around the shop last time I was there! There is a good indoor market which sells just about anything you need, and every now and then a flea market which is held next to the Tourist ... Read the complete review

Those who are used to cities on the scale of London and Birmingham will probably laugh at Cornwall's only city. It isn't big, bold and brassy, but, unlike some of the bigger cities, it is friendly. Truro has quite a few of the 'big' stores in the city centre, although, it has to be said, many of them are small branches of big stores. There are two M&S shops, a C&A, Woolworths, Lakeland, PastTimes, Laura Ashley, Benetton and Monsoon amongst others. However these are shops that can be found in most cities - what is so appealing about Truro is the many small shops which seem to sell the kinds of things that you never actually knew you needed or even ...
