Advantages: Lovely city to vist, good mix of high street and niche

Disadvantages: Could do with a few less mobile phone shops!

Truro is my home town and I'd never move, especially now that the shopping areas are much improved! When I first moved to Truro in 2001, there were a few big shops like M&S but nothing on the scale of 'larger' cities like Plymouth or Exeter. In fact my friends and I used to make a special trip out of the county to do any decent shopping!

Since the redevelopment of Lemon Quay around 8 years ago now, a new age of shopping has been heralded in Truro. We have seen Lush, TK Maxx, Thorntons, Claires Accessories, Accessorize, Phase 8, Principals, Starbucks, Costa, Debenhams Desire, Peacocks and loads more that I can't remember right now! This may seem silly to people reading this from more urbanised areas, but honestly you should have come to Truro 10 years ago when the best shop was M&S - we now have one of the largest flagshop M&S stores in the country. There are also a few quirky shopping arcades such as Lemon Street Market which has lovely cafes and niche shops. Pannier Market is still a little retro but you never know!

There are currently plans to redevelop the city centre with a Masterplan being developed by the local council, so watch this space...
