Truro is Cornwall's Administration centre, and a friendlier city you'd be hard pushed to find. All the major stores you are looking for are here, such as Marks and Spencer,Laura Ashley etc. and a large Lakeland shop which is great to browse around. There aren't too many Lakeland shops around the country so to find one in Truro is great. Lakeland store all the gadgets etc. you need in the home, especially concentrating on kitchen items. I spent over an hour wandering around the shop last time I was there!

There is a good indoor market which sells just about anything you need, and every now and then a flea market which is held next to the Tourist Information Bureau. I have picked up many a good find here, and not a flea in sight!

Of course, after wandering around Truro for a while you will need a cup of tea/coffee and lunch, so the best place to head for is 'The Terrace' which is also a few doors away from the Tourist Information Bureau. The service is very good, and the food delicious; the prices are a little high but it is reflected in the quality of the food. For instance, if you order a simple egg sandwich you will receive it complete with substantial side salad. Delicious!

There are many specialist shops in Truro, such as the perfume shop and the shop that just sells teddy bears.

If you are visiting Truro in high season be prepared for crowds of people as it is a very popular place. And enjoy!
