Thousands of tourists come to Cornwall every year in search of sun, surf and.......shops??? I don't think so. Truro is my home town and I'd never move, especially now that the shopping areas are much improved! When I first moved to Truro in 2001, there were a few big shops like M&S but nothing on the scale of 'larger' cities like Plymouth or Exeter. Cornwall is unquestionably one of Britain's favourite holiday attractions. Truro is Cornwall's Administration centre, and a friendlier city you'd be hard pushed to find. All the major stores you are looking for are here, such as Marks and Spencer,Laura Ashley etc. and a large Lakeland shop which is great to browse around. Those who are used to cities on the scale of London and Birmingham will probably laugh at Cornwall's only city. It isn't big, bold and brassy, but, unlike some of the bigger cities, it is friendly.
