Shopping in Lincoln in generalNewest Review: ... shops and restaurants to stop off at on your way up. There are a few notable places to shop in Lincoln. If you go by train you are right in the centre of the town - ideal for a hard days shopping. The Waterside shopping centre is the main shopping centre in Lincoln. This is where you will find most of the high street shops including Adams, ELC, O2 Shop, New Look, Primark and Superdrug. The centre I feel is a little small and not well serviced with restaurants. St. Marks shopping centre is out of the centre but houses all the DIY and larger stores such as Homebase and Argos. Great if you need free parking or if you're carrying heavy thi... more |

For anyone who hasn't visited Lincoln you must go. It is a beautiful old town with a cathedral at the top. I say at the top because there is an extremely steep hill up to it. Don't worry though as there are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants to stop off at on your way up. There are a few notable places to shop in Lincoln. First, let me explain my title... If you've ever been to Lincoln town centre you'll already know that the majority of shops are situated along the High Street, with more quaint old fashioned, touristy type shopping at the very top (known as the top as it's uphill) of the High Street in what's known as the Bailgate area, and another shopping area towards the bottom of the High Street known as St. Mark's. Unlike some towns there are very few shops located in areas branching off this one straight line - yes there are a few streets that cross the High Street and the likes, but on the whole the main shopping area in Lincoln is as I've described! ... SORRY THAT THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE ONES OF THESE - I WANTED TO MOVE THE ORIGINAL TO WHERE IT IS NOW, SO JUST IGNORE THE PREVIOUS UNI-BASED ONE - I'M NOT ON THE FIDDLE, I CAN ASSURE U! Why construct a guide of Lincoln eateries on a need to know basis? Simple – when you’ve got eating machines in your entourage (big up Chev if he's reading this!), eating out doesn’t become an occasional luxury, it’s a way of survival. Forget the preconceptions of students’ supposed fascination with baked beans, THESE are the places where many a student loan became a ticket to gorge-Ville… THE PLACES Burger King; Deep Pan ... There are lots of quality places to eat in the cathedral area of Lincoln, for snacks you have to go to the Ice cream parlour ( I forget the name ) and try any of their range, my favorites are Lemon merange or Apple pie flavour, then in the summer go and eat them lying on the grass outside the cathedral. For dinner either go to Tequilas a intimate little mexican with great food and fab cocktails or to the Pie shop which does very good deals on lovely meals, especially deserts, try the bread and butter pudding. I am sure the Jews House is lovely as well and I fully intend to go there as soon as I win the lottery. ... Read the complete review

This area of Lincoln is full of small independent shops that offer an experience of how shopping used to be. Stretching out from the castle and cathedral are a collection of small cobbled streets that have a real old fashioned, quaint feeling to them. In this historic part of Lincoln there are over 100 shops, which offer a very different environment from the usual high street or shopping mall. The shops and their staff are warm and friendly, giving the type of service that we all enjoy. Because it is a tourist area the shop owners are very used to people just browsing around and there is no pressure to buy anything when you go into any of the shops. But, if you ...
