Possible career change (Somerfields)

Advantages: None Disadvantages: many unfortunately Recently i applied for a job with somerfield, i got throught the recuritment process which can i say is all about customer sevice and how its so important to them, all i can say is when i have to i go into there bridge of allan store and there is one particular lady on the check outs who has no customer service skills at all. Can i suggest before taking on new staff you retrain the staff that you do have! After visiting the store as they requested in their "prepare for your interview" i decided i didnt want to work for a company that can't put all there talk into action. Furthermore the human resources staff sent me a letter asking me to attend an interview which was dated for the previous year! To sum it up i think that instead of recruiting more staff they should concentrate on bringing the standard and training of their existing staff to a reasonable standard, which is easily reached by a bit of please and thankyou and just by being noticed when you walk into their store and not by being completely ignored. I think in a place like Bridge of Allan its a lovely community but you certainly would not think of it as a community store there is no atmosphere in this store, which is a real pity as that is what a local store should have. Summary: Invest in staff training, in customer service as you will find this will boost company sales. |
