Advantages: Own Brands are CHEAP (& Tasty)
Disadvantages: Have to look carefully
Their own brand items are very cheap,(also available in Kwik Save) apparently the store managers prefer not to stock them as these tempt people away from the brand names and their profits go down..
There is only one store in my village and that is..Somerfields where often I have been forced to shop as there isn't another store, ahhh
In general the choice of goods is limited, but their 2 for 1 offers are good and do represent value for money, but the best options there must be their own brand goods which come in a lovely red/white basic packaging! - good buys include their own brand frozen vegetables (cauliflower = 58p)tea bags -80s are 45p, Bio washing-powder is 74p,sunflower margarine 24p, fresh mushrooms, cotton-wool, coffee, ice-cream, bleach, tinned vegetables and fresh chicken are cut price.
They have their own card which points are credited to on each visit and when this is full £5 can be redeemed in Argos against any purchase there (I now have about 30 of these cards with varying credits on them!!)
This shop often has good offers on wine and lagers etc. Offers come out every second wednesday and if you stick to these and the brand items it may be worth a visit!! I have bought a 'few' bottles of their Cava at £2.99,which really is a bargain buy....

- 29/09/00 We buy 500g bags of Tesco's own brend pasta for 25p! You don't mind losing a bit of the taste for such a huge saving. The biggest bargain we've found was Tesco's own brand low sugar lemonade (2 Litre)at 15p a bottle. Again the taste isn't up to the standards of Sprite but a drop of vodka - you're never know the difference! ; ) |
