Good for topping up your monthly shop. (Somerfields)

Advantages: great offers.

Disadvantages: Bad parking and slightly higher prices in general.

We have a large Somerfield store fairly local where I live and also a smaller one in the town centre. I find both shops to be friendly and to have a welcoming feel to them.

The large store which is my nearest supermarket other than late shops is good because unlike the larger supermarkets you always see the same staff and so you get to know them which I find a nice thing, they are all polite and helpful and many will have a friendly chat too. In my opinion this is a definite plus for me. The only reason I do most of my shopping further a field is because others are cheaper and have better parking. I do still try to get to Somerfield every now and again though.

Somerfields have offers on all the time and we get very useful booklets with the post telling us about them as I live near to one. This can often get me to make a trip, also I very much look forward to the monthly magazine they give out for free, this has news, tips, story's and recipes in, all interesting and useful. I have recreated many meals from the magazine and most have been a triumph too.

As this is not as big as some super markets they have slightly less variety. This is not a problem for me most of the time but I do find the baby section is quite lacking, they don't sell bottles or soothers and only have a limited amount of crèmes and medicines. Other than this they have the same as the "big four" , with a small section with fresh baked bread and pastry's and a fresh hot roast chicken counter too.

All in all I really like to shop here because I feel welcome and appreciate the personal touch as well as the great offers to be had.
