Advantages: getting out of there

Disadvantages: everything very disappointed

For a change we decided to shop at Somerfield this weekend. Why oh why! I am very depressed at how much this store has gone downhill. I used to work at Gateway before/during/after the takeover and I loved it but on gong around the store I was shocked at how much it had changed. It had dull lighting, crowded aisles not with customers but baskets, displays etc, the baskets were not very big but were awkward to hold whilst pushing a buggy the fruit display looked as if it had gone past its sell by date. The fruit looked unappetising to say the least. The prices well, in these days of supermarket wars you would have thought that their prices would have been more competitive. The floor was dirty and looked like it had not been washed in months. The staff looked miserable and although they offer premier points as a loyalty thing this was not in eveidence and I could not wait to get out of there. The checkout assistant must have had courses in misery. I had to go on training courses every week when I worked there and I made my customers want to come back. You have to treat them how you like to be treated and in this case I do not think I will be going back for a long time. I used to love working and shopping there and made friends with all the staff and customers but Somerfield Pull your socks up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
