Advantages: Established as a good name

Disadvantages: Expensive

I remeber growing up in Chelmsford and going shopping with my mum. In those days it was called Keymarkets. It then became Gateway (where I worked for a grand total of 6 weeks) and then on to be somerfield.
Poor Somerfield. When you go in there it is like stepping back in time. As the Tescos and Sainsbury's have moved forwards and introduced new facilities like cafes, a hot deli, newsagents,etc Somerfield has stayed in the dark ages. The shop does not have a very good selection of goods compared to the huge Tesco competition, the aisles look out of date with their layout and the prices are too high.
In the modern competitive Supermarket "market" they have lost out in a big way to their rivals. I would not shop there and would rather travel the extra distance to Tescos. Its much cheaper and has a better range.
