Spar stores are a chain of franchises available nationwide. Spar stores are generally a local or corner shop and are easily identifiable by the red white and green sign. Spar shops will most commonly be found near to housing estates or in the opposite direction of supermarkets. They generally sell, alcohol, tobacco, newspapers and groceries.

My experience of Spar store is a very good one. I do appreciate that this will vary from store to store. As the stores are franchised it will depend very much on the owner how good the stores are. My local spar store is about 5 minutes by car and is probably the biggest Spar store I have ever been in due to a recent extension. The shop is immaculately clean, always well staffed and provides excellent customer service. My local store sells all the things I listed above but also has fresh fruit and veg, frozen food, a bakery and a takeaway. The takeaway sells fresh filled baguettes, pies and pastries and breakfast rolls (all day)

For me the best thing about Spar is the convenience and the worst is the price. I like the fact that they open from early in the morning until late and night and are generally open seven days. I like the fact they are handy if I cant be bothered going into town or have forgotten something but I do know that I pay extra money for this. Spar do sell a lot of Spars own make products that are less expensive than branded products are are generally very good quality.

Overall-
A really good convenience store, just be prepared to pay more.

Summary: Good convenience store
