Needs to get fruity (Spar)

Advantages: Convenient

Disadvantages: No fruit and veg in ours

Our local Spar is to be found on a garage forecourt as the main shops in the local shopping area are a co-op and a few small independant shops however in the next village there is a main Spar and as it is on my route home from work I often use it.

Spar are a chain of shops which are run locally assume under some sort of franchise or trading agreement, my local one is very friendly as it is run by the owner and his family, you expect to pay a bit extra than in the supermarkets because it is a convenince store however I find that they have a good enough range that I can always find something for the evening meal if the cupboards are bare at home and I do not want to do a big shop.

Our one has a small freezer section which has meats and ready meals as well as some frozen pizza and vegetables. Unfortunately there are no fresh fruit and veg in the shop which is the main thing that they are missing. They do sell bread as well as fresh milk and a wide range of alcoholic drinks.

They have a small section selling stationary items and also they sell papers and magazines.

What I like about Spar is the local feel of the place however the lack of fresh fruit and veg is a downside but other stores may be different. On teh plus they do have long opening hours as our one is open untl late in the evening.
