ST JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE We are part of an organisation that teaches First Aid, among other things, to people aged 5 plus. Our Division is divided into 3 smaller units, and is called a Quadrilateral Division. {This is because it was originally split into 4 sections with separate sections for Care/Nursing and First Aid and each section was then further split in two according to gender. This no longer applies}. The current 3 sections are: 1. Badgers (for the 5 to 10 year olds who can stay on till 11, to complete Super Badger Award) 2. Cadets (for the 10 to 16 year olds, who can stay on till 18, to complete Grand Prior award) 3. Adults ... Read the complete review

I for one am not above criticism so I am usually the last person to dish it out, everybody is entitled to choose their own lifestyles but if you have ever considered volunteering for a charity but as yet have never really decided which one can I point you in the direction of St. John Ambulance. A friend at school started my career in St. John Ambulance and although that person has since left the organisation I continue with my quest to do something useful. This friend had been a ... A few months ago I was listening to a very interesting conversation on our local radio station about the work of the excellent work of the St John Ambulance. I was really suprised to hear that for years I have been guilty of addressing this organisation wrongly.....apparently there is no "s" on the end of John !! Its very difficult to remember to use the correct name though...but I am sure they are well used to our mistake... They are present at most well orgainsed events and deserve the gratitude of all of us,even if we have never yet needed to use the services they provide. ... Read the complete review

Although there is not a St John's Charity shop in my home town of Scarborough, there is a Head Quarters and training facility. The St John's Ambulance service (full time staff and trainers excepted) are volunteers. They give up a lot of their spare time to provide First Aid cover wherever there is a large (or small) congregation of people. From garden fete's to football matches, St John's First Aiders will be on duty, and not usually the full time Ambulance Service personnel. St John's Ambulance are the forgotten charity. People assume that they receive their funding from the Government and are part of the NHS. This is not the case, ... Read the complete review
