Advantages: cheap and quality items
Disadvantages: couriers and call centre staff
I have never been one for rdering out of catalogues, however i received a Studio catalogue a couple of years ago when I first moved into my house. It was getting near to Christmas and I hadn't got used to having no money so Christmas was going to be a cheap and cheerful one that year. Studio originally was a catalogue that specialised in Christmas items and has somewhat developed over the years to also sell a small variety of clothes and other household items. Browsing through the pages, I chose a few items, Christmas cards, wrapping paper and various Christmas decorations as that was something I forgot I needed and is actually very expensive when first starting out, I decided to open an account and place an order. The pricing on Studio itens I found to very competitive, however they did charge postage and packaging even though my order was of quite a high value.
Over the years, I have still had the catalogue come through, twice a year they produce their catalogue for the appropriate seasons and I have had quite a few items from there, again competitively priced in comparison to other catalogues and high street shops, you can get some good things for a rather decent price.
You can pay for your items with monthly installments which is useful and you don't have to worry about damaging that plastic too much and if yor are a little short some months, however after a couple of months they do start to charge interest.
The downfall to Studio is the delivery. They use couriers for delivery, in which you have to sign for your products, which is good. It always takes around ten days for items to come which is a little longer tha other catalogues. I also didn't receive a parcel on one occasion and thought it was taking a little longer, however they still charged me for these items. I had to follow a rather long way round procedure to try and claim my money back which still isn't resolved and they still keep chasing me for money. Luckily it is now being investigated and my phone has stopped ringing from a foreign call centre where they staff don't know what to do if you ask them a question and must be trained just to dela with chasing payment. You get passed through to a different department, which normally consists of you being on hold for another 15 minutes or so and is extremely annoying.
Although I have had a few good items from here and I have had quite a few personalised items which are very reasonably priced, once this issue is completely resolved, i will close my account. Shame really, but once I have a bad experience I don't tend to stick around waiting for another one to happen.
