Sunday Times Wine Club

Description: Wine club - specialists in great value, quality red and white wine.

Newest Review: ... review is inappropriate, please let me know. My Dad was a subscriber to the Sunday Times Wine Club and looked forward to his monthly consignment of wine, enjoying a bottle of an evening with friends or at Sunday lunchtime. When he died, I was not immediately aware of this subscription, because he had the cases of wine delivered to his work address each time. It was therefore only a couple ... more

Premium Review Sunday Times Wine Club: Excellent Customer service. (562 words)

Rating:

The Sunday Times Wine Club is pretty much as it sounds - readers of the Sunday Times join up and pay a monthly subscription, and in return get a case or half a case each month of mixed wines, in order that they can build up their own wine cellars and learn a bit more about wines of the world. Buying wine in this way is not as cheap as buying from the local Supermarket, but generally the wines are of pretty decent quality and, in my limited experience, are better than those that you would buy in Tescos.....(or other similar supermarkets). However, this review is not to rave about (or otherwise) the wine itself, the cost, or the choice.......it is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Good reliable wine club with some bonus deals (369 words)

The Sunday Times Wine Club has a number of excellent introductory offers. Often, you can obtain a case of wine for around £30 as a sweetener. After that, you are free to decide whether to continue. Their wines are always interesting, but are not especially cheap. Of course, it's very hard to compare like with like, because supermarket and off-licence stock is rarely exactly the same as what the STWC supplies. That's one reason for having a look at them - the often unusual choice of wines. The brochures make good reading, even though the writing is hardly going to be objective! You get used to the hyperbole of high alchohol red wines being referred to as ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sunday Times Wine Club: You get what you pay for! (492 words)

If, like me, you quite like a glass of the old red stuff and you've thought about joining a wine club, this is the one. First be warned - they are not the cheapest. They're not over-priced but you will find other clubs £10 - £20 cheaper per case. That's fine - but the one's that I've tried have been nowhere near as close to the quality of the Sunday Times Wine. As well as being a club where you can buy wine whenever you want, they do run a Vin Des 4 Saisons club - basically you will receive 4 cases of wine every year (1 every three months). With my first case I received 3 free bottles of vintage red (very nice!) ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Is this any good? (195 words)

I was wondering whether dooyoo members could let me know if this fairly new service is any good, or not. I think I must have sent off something in the post in the past, or ticked a box that I shouldn't have, as almost every week I get at least one mailshot from "The Sunday Times Wine Club" offering me all sorts of things if I join, least of all free wine, so it appears. Before I send off my form saying I want lots of wine, I want to know the level of service they provide. How much is postage and packaging, for example. They can't exactly send a crate of wine via carrier pigeon, so I suppose this is quite an extensive cost. Does it work ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sunday Times Wine Club (250 words)

We've been ordering wine from the Sunday Times Wine Club for just over a year now. We started partly because the introductory offer whas enticing adn partly because we were fed up of spending ages in Tesco's choosing wine, only to get it home and finding out it tasted foul! So far we've ordered about 5 cases each costing about £50 making it just over £4 a bottle. We've mainly ordered mixed cases of red, and so far each set we've been sent has been excellent, the standard is high and ok there are some we prefer, all were extremely palatable. For those people like me who enjoy a fine wine, but, who don't have the inclination or confidence to ...  Read the complete review
