I didn't really realize how great this shop was until yesterday. I desperately needed nail polish remover and was right next door to Superdrug, so why bother running across town to Boots? Agin, like my Boots review, I'm not going to focus on one particular branch of this store as there are two here in Aberdeen, so there will be no main branch focus in this review.
Superdrug is very much like Boots in the sense that focusses on selling beauty products and everyday necessities. This is split into categories, Beauty, Hair, Fragrance, Electrical, Mens, Healthy, Gifts and Food. Don't be mistaken, when I say Electricals, I in no way mean hoovers, microwaves, washing machines etc, it's hairdryers, electric toothbrushes and the other electricals you need for everyday preening and primping.
As mentioned afore, Aberdeen has 2 branches of Superdrug (if you know f any others, then please let me know). Both of these are in the centre of town, but at opposite ends (it'd be pretty pointless if they were right next to each other, huh?). They are both roughly the same size, and are roughly the same size as any other Superdrug I've ever been in, so it's not like Boots which varies in size depending on what they'd like to sell. The first Superdrug I cam across in Aberdeen is in the main shopping centre, The Bon Accord Centre. It's on the second floor, just beside New Look and The Early Learning Centre. The second Superdrug is in a smaller shopping centre in Aberdeen, The Mall Trinity, or The Trinity Centre, it goes by both name. This is right in between HMV and Clinton Cards.
They both sell the same products. Each store has a GOSH counter, and stands with Maybelline, Rimmel, Barry M, Collection 2000, Loreal, 2true, NYC, MeMeMe, Playboy and most stores now have a small YSL stand. They also sell hair care products (shampoo, conditioner, brushes, accessories, etc). Skin care products (cleanser, exfoliater, toner, moisturiser, etc). Perfume and Cologne. Feminine hygiene products, male grooming products, oral health products and then food and drink (sandwiches, chocolate, crisps, snacks etc).
Superdrug usually always has offers on, whether it's a 2 for 1 offer, 10% off or something of the likes, you can usually always find a bargain. Like Boots, there is a 3 for 2 offer on most gifts near Christmas time.
The thing I love about Superdrug is that it has some cheaper prices than Boots, but if you choose to shop in Superdrug instead of Boots because of this, then you better weigh up the good and the bad between both. Boots may charge an extra 50p - £1 on some products, but you get points back for it, so is it worth the extra cash?
I have never come across rude staff in Superdrug, which is always a plus for me when I'm reviewing a store as I tend to avoid stores with rude staff. I've found that there are ALOT of very young girls working in Superdrug, usually between the ages of 16-18, and you tend to find that some of them look very bored and uninterested, not something you want from a sales assistant, but whatever.
All in all, I find that this is a really great store for beauty stuff, but I'll probably stick to Boots when I can.
Thank you for reading!
Summary: a good shop, but not the best
